Mobile Bus Information
- Need public transport information on the move?
It is now possible to receive up to the minute public transport information direct to your mobile phone.
For bus timetable information, there are two services available:
- Traveline SMS: 84268
- NextBuses
- TrainTracker 0871 200 49 50
- TrainTracker Text: 8 49 50
For rail service information there is:

All bus stops in Worcestershire (and the UK) have been allocated an eight letter SMS code.
These stop codes are currently on display at every bus stop within Worcestershire that has a timetable display, as well as on new bus stop flags that have been erected in and around Worcester City Centre.
Worcestershire County Council also have plans to put up new bus stop flags with Traveline SMS codes in other towns and areas.
- How to use Traveline SMS
To use the Traveline SMS service, simply text the eight letter SMS code to 84268 and you will receive a text back telling you the next available bus times from that stop direct to your mobile phone.
As an example, Worcestershire Royal Hospital, main entrance uses the stop code:’wocdgpad‘ so you would just text ‘wocdgpad‘ to 84268 and within a few seconds you would get a reply with the times of the next six buses from that stop.
Worcestershire Royal Hospital has lots of bus services and it is possible to specify which service you want by leaving a space, followed by the service number.
Using the same example, texting ‘wocdgpad 44‘ means you would get back the times of the next six service 44′s.
- Points to remember
Stop codes are specific to one direction, the code for the stop opposite will be different.
The text you send will be your normal message charge, the return text will cost up to 25 pence

NextBuses is a recent innovation from Traveline aimed at mobile phones that have internet access.
It is an improvement on the SMS service as it removes the need for having to enter an eight letter stop code.
Instead, visitors enter a postcode, street, town, or stop name which then finds all of the bus stops within 1km to that location and shows a map of the nearest few.
Visitors can then select which stop to use and a list of bus times (similar to the SMS service results) is shown on screen.
- How to access NextBuses
The address to access the service is www.nextbuses.mobi and this can be accessed via the normal internet as well as via mobile internet.
Alternatively, if you text ‘traveline‘ to ‘84268‘ a bookmark for the service will be sent direct to your mobile phone.
Try the service for yourself to see how easy it is to use:
